May 4--“Black & White Event 2013,” Walkerville Brewery -- Wear Your Pinstripes & Pearls!!!

On May 4, The Canadian Mental Health Association, Windsor-Essex County Branch (CMHA-WECB ) presents the “Black & White Event 2013.”

Escape to another time and place. Men, pull out your pin stripes and ladies, put on those pearls!

The theme is revealed when you arrive at Walkerville Brewery, 525 Argyle Road.

Your exquisite evening begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $125 pp and include food, drinks and entertainment.

All proceeds benefit CMHA-WECB’s Bereavement Programs. To purchase tickets go to cmha-wecb.on.ca or call 519-255-7440.

April 27, 2013: First Annual Art For Alzheimer's Event

On Saturday, April 27^th, 2013 the Alzheimer Society of Windsor and Essex County will celebrate their community by hosting the First Annual Art For Alzheimer’s event at the Alzheimer Society of Windsor and Essex County, located in Olde Walkerville, across from Walkverille High School at 2135 Richmond Street.

Over 30 exhibitors of Arts and Crafts will have items and art for sale between 11am and 5pm. In addition to the exhibitors, there will be original paintings by persons with dementia that attend the Day Away Program. These original paintings will be available for purchase through silent auction, with bidding closing at 4pm.

Proceeds of the Art For Alzheimer’s event will help with local programs and services such as the Day Away Program.

Donations are accepted as admission.

about the author

Richard spent 40 years in Canada and The United States as a professional manager. He served as President of Sumner Press in Windsor where he started his career as an apprentice printer.

His most recent employment was in the contract engineering field where he served as Executive Vice President of a Windsor firm and then completed his full-time career as President and C.E.O. of a Southfield, Michigan company.

He is very active in the community on a local and national scale and has served as President of United Way, Hospice, The Windsor Jewish Community Council and many other organizations. This included a 10 year term as a Member of the Board of Governors of the University of Windsor as well as serving as Chair of the Windsor Planning Board. He is a charter member of the Windsor Roseland Rotary Club and currently serves as a Member of the Board of the Centres for Seniors.

He earned a BA and MBA from the University of Windsor.

Now that he has "retired", Richard is writing articles for Biz X capitalizing on his experience and sharing some of his business and life philosophies in this publication.
