LaSalle Rotary Supports Local
Students
The Rotary Club of LaSalle
Centennial and the Sandwich Secondary School Parent Council are hosting a Walk-a-thon
on May 24th, at 12:30 pm, at Sandwich Secondary School.
The entire
student body, along with members of the Rotary Club of LaSalle Centennial,
friends and teachers are walking to support the school, their local community
and scholarships and bursaries for the school.
“Rotarians
are committed to involving the community to support programs that strengthen
the capacity of communities to provide basic education and literacy to all,”
says Nick Krayacich, President of the Rotary Club of LaSalle Centennial.
He
adds, “These scholarships will be geared toward students in each grade level
and will be awarded based of a cross section of criteria including academic
achievement, sportsmanship, community service and athletic ability.”
What is most unique about this walk is that each student is invested in supporting each other and they are walking and raising funds to support student bursaries and scholarships to benefit their classmates, as well as supporting local community projects of the LaSalle Centennial Rotary Club.
The walk lasts
one hour and will be followed by a BBQ and celebration.
Rotary’s main objective is service — in the community, in
the workplace, and around the globe. The 1.2 million Rotarians who make up more
than 34,000 Rotary clubs in nearly every country in the world share a
dedication to the ideal of Service Above Self.
