3 v 3 Tournament - Call
for Registrations
Vollmer Complex in LaSalle.
This fun-filled tournament will
appeal to a wide range of age groups and skill levels, with divisions for boys
and girls in age groups U9, U11, U13, U15 and U17 as well as a division for Men
and Women and Co-ed teams. There will
also be a corporate division where local businesses and organizations have the
opportunity to issue a challenge to their colleagues and competitors. While only 3 from a team will play at one
time, it is recommended that each team have 6 players to allow for substitution
as each team is guaranteed to play a minimum of four 25 minute games.
“We are so excited for this inaugural event,” says Rotarian Neil McTavish, committee chair. “Participants are asked to bring in pledges of a minimum of $25 per player and all funds raised will support projects of the Rotary Club of Windsor (1918) including providing clean water, sanitation, literacy and health care in Upper West Ghana, Africa.
“What makes this tournament so
unique is that it will be global in nature.
We will be establishing a communication link via webcast to groups
participating in similar soccer events in Brazil and Ghana. Brazil already has
80 teams registered and we expect to do the same.” McTavish continues. “We hope
someday that this World Soccer Day tournament will become a signature
fundraising event for many Rotary clubs around the world.”
Teams can register online at www.worldsoccerday.com or by calling Neil McTavish at
519-791-7263. Registration deadline is
Sept.24 and spaces are limited. Teams
will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.
